NCC Welcomes Sarah Stockton
New Century Chorale is pleased to welcome Sarah Stockton as its new Artistic Director. Those who have been attending our concerts over the past two years may recognize Sarah, as she has been a member of the Chorale in the soprano section—and has performed several solos. We are thrilled she decided to add her new role with NCC to an already busy life.
For instance, she is the Vocal Music Director at Grand Blanc High School. Sarah’s choirs consistently perform well, earning high ratings from audiences and judges alike. In 2008, her choirs received the following comments from MSVMA Choir Festival judges:
“I travel the state listening to choirs sing. I can promise you that you have one of the best choral programs anywhere. Don’t take that for granted. It is very precious.”
“In my 40 years of adjudicating, this was the finest performance by a women’s choir that I have ever heard”.
Other musical endeavors include performing frequently as a soloist and serving as a private voice and piano instructor. Additionally, Sarah is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association of Music Education.
Further, she is continuing her education, pursing her Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, studying under David Rayl and Jonathan Reed. Sarah received her Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University in 2006.
She resides in Grand Blanc with her husband of three years, Josh. They have a dog, Peanut, and a cat, CJ - short for CrackerJack. When she has free time (when?), she enjoys reading, crocheting, kickboxing, healthy cooking, and arts and crafts.
Welcome Sarah!!!
