On Sunday afternoon, February 19, at 4 PM, in St. Christopher’s Church, New Century Chorale and the Midland Music Society Camerata Singers will present an exciting concert titled,My Favorite Things.  The Chorale members have pulled, from the repertoire,some of the chorale members’ favorite selections performed over nearly two decades.  So, please mark 4 PM, Sunday, February 19, in St. Christopher’s Church and plan to join us for a late winter’s early evening of music reminiscence.

We kick off our season November 6th with our 8th annual A Harvest of Song.  We continue our tradition of supporting another local charity such as Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council, Habitat for Humanity, F.I.S.H. of Grand Blanc, Carriage Town Ministries, and others.  This year we are excited to benefit Tri-County Christmas in Action.  This amazing group of volunteers serves the greater Holly/Fenton area, focusing on improving the homes of the community’s senior citizens.

Sunday, December 11th brings our 17th annual Yuletide Festival concert.  This family favorite brings a great mix of the traditional and familiar often with a twist, along with plenty of new or rarely heard amazing holiday music.   Put the craziness on hold, and let us help you get into the holiday mood.  A festive reception follows the concert.

We welcome special guest Midland Music Society Camerata Singers on February 19th, 2012.  Join us as dust off some of our favorite music from the last 19 years.  It is sure to cut the winter chill.

Concluding our season on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 we celebrate life in our great State of Michigan.  From the composers and arrangers heralding from Michigan, and songs about Michigan, you are sure to be moved and happy you came.

Finally, we are always looking for people who love to sing.  New Century Chorale is a very welcoming group.  Our weekly rehearsals are often the pick-me-up that we needed.  We are good friends who get great joy in singing and in each other.

The audition will consist of a variety of vocal exercises and singing sections of familiar choral selections.  Additionally, several NCC members will be on hand to answer questions.

Other than voice quality and sight-reading ability, the only other requirements are that you are at least 18 years old; possess an enthusiasm for singing and a willingness to commit to the general requirements for rehearsals and performances.  While there are some financial commitments related to dues and proper attire, the Chorale will work with anyone who qualifies through the auditions to ensure these costs do not become a burden.

NCC rehearses on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., beginning the first Monday after Labor Day and continuing through the final concert in May, excepting those that fall during holidays.  Concerts include A Harvest of Song in November, Yuletide Festival in December and a spring concert held in May.  Additional performances may be added, with the agreement of the chorale members.
